I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about the Selecta Gold Series of ice creams, so I decided to try it out a few weeks ago. So far, I’ve been able to try two flavors: Berry Strawberry and Chocolate Truffle. The former satisfied my palate more than the latter did.
It’s actually somewhat odd, because I don’t remember ever liking strawberry ice cream. My favorite flavor has always been mint chocolate chip, so I thought I’d end up liking Chocolate Truffle more than Berry Strawberry. I was wrong.
Three days ago, I ended up buying an 800mL container of Chocolate Truffle, just to try it out, since I ended up liking Berry Strawberry so much. I went home and began to dig in. I was determined to like it. However, after a few mouthfuls of the ice cream, I had to concede defeat. While the ice cream was good, the truffle bits were a tad too sweet. I gave the tub of ice cream to my goddaughter who absolutely adores chocolate, and then went out to buy some strawberry ice cream.
The strawberry ice cream is just right. Quite recently, I developed an aversion to anything too sweet. All I can say is that this is just right. The strawberry pieces are a huge bonus, too. I love digging around the container for the particularly large pieces of strawberries. Even my mom, who doesn’t eat ice cream often, has ended up liking this flavor.
I plan to try the other two flavors in the Gold series soon: Vanilla Almond, and Hazelnut Brownie. Vanilla Almond was recommended by a friend who also loves Berry Strawberry. I just want to try Hazelnut Brownie to satisfy my curiosity. :)
