Today, to take my mind off the disasters (let’s all pray for the people in the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, and Samoa), I’m going to do the Wednesday Media Mix.

I find this rather apt: the theme for the latest meme is comfort.

Here are the questions:

[Listen] What is the most comforting album that you have?

When I’m feeling anxious, I listen to Ingrid Michaelson. My favorite album is Be Ok though I’m a big fan of her latest record as well. There’s something about the sound of a ukulele that’s really soothing and fun at the same time.

I want to go home. :(

I’ve been having a lot of fun here in Davao, but part of me really feels like going home. Not because I don’t like it here, but because I want to help my dad and brothers – and also my friends – in the middle of the crisis.

Finding out that most of my friends are okay has been a relief, but I can’t help but want to go there to see for myself. My dad won’t let me come home, though, since it might not be safe yet. I understand his reasons.

I hope the next few days fly by quickly so I can fly home and see my family.

When typhoon Ondoy hit Manila, I was on the other side of the country, safe and sound, with my mom. All I could think of was, “410mm rainfall in 6 hours?!”

Trust me, it doesn’t feel good when you’re somewhere else, and your brothers and dad are struggling to save your belongings at home, and the flood is up to their bellies.

My computer was saved, although I’m not so sure about my DVDs and other stuff. But what’s really important to me is that everyone is safe and sound. I just wish this didn’t have to happen.

I haven’t heard from two of my friends – Lyndon and Jem – since Saturday afternoon. Lyndon, I know you read my blog, so as soon as you read this, text me. :D I’m worried about you guys.

If you would like to lend a hand to the typhoon victims (trust me, we need ALL the help we can get), please visit PhilippineAid.com or The Philippine National Red Cross or Ondoy Relief.

I’m about to head out with a couple of my cousins to the ABS CBN Davao office to help repack relief goods to be sent to the victims in Manila.
